Today I almost didn’t make it, guys. a busy day and a friend over for dinner, plenty of wine, and my tired brain didn’t want to stay up and finish a poem. But I did… so much of this project is about learning that if I sit and make space for writing, even if I’m not in the mood, something usually comes. It may not be great, but it’s something, and just going through the process feels good.

What is it about poets and seasons? Weather seems to bring a lot of emotional content for me, at least, and we get so much variety in Minnesota. So here’s another one, after spending the afternoon listening to music outside at a Record Store Day block party. I feel so rejuvenated!

More of a prose-poem, but I wanted to commemorate the Purple One and this is how it took shape. And yes, it was super-cool to stand in front of his purple-coat-outfit at the museum, and see the early photos of him on display!
